Mr. Jeffrey Coggins is a collaborative pianist, organist, harpsichordist, and liturgical music director in southern Maine, and is very pleased to be serving as accompanist for Tri-City Community Chorus since 2015. He has also been serving as the Choral Studies accompanist for the Osher School of Music at the University of Southern Maine, as well as Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Magic of Christmas Chorus since 2019. He also accompanies public schools, community theaters, and district honors festivals all around southern Maine.
In addition to accompanying, he also served as a music minister for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, where he has played organ, cantored, and directed parish choirs. He has served as Coordinator of Liturgical Music at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish, as well as interim organist and choir conductor for the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Portland. At these parishes, he has worked with singers to cultivate a better understanding of the Propers of the Mass (antiphons), as well as music literacy and solfège.
Jeffrey earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Southern Maine in 2005. He studied harpsichord and organ with Ray Cornils, percussion with Nancy Smith, chamber music with Neil Boyer, music education with Dr. Kaschub, choral music with Dr. Russell, and conducting with Dr. Martin. He owes a debt of gratitude to all his professors and looks forward to working with many more talented musicians.
In the summer of 2022, Dr. Christian Giddings became the Tri-City Community Chorus’s new Music Director!
Christian Giddings is a conductor, composer, and music educator from Unity, Maine. He holds a D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona and an M.M. and B.M. in Music Education from the University of Maine. He is a passionate educator and conductor and has worked with ensembles of all ages and ability levels. He loves working with non-auditioned choirs because he feels such ensembles embody one of his main tenets of music education, building lifelong musicians.
He has taught and directed ensembles in North Dakota, Arizona, and Maine. He is also in high demand as an adjudicator, clinician, guest conductor, and presenter, having presented at state conferences in Indiana, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and internationally in Portugal.
